Thanks for your comment on "Mountain Butterfly." I used a Canon Rebel (EOS-300D) and the lense from the kit. This was taken at about the minimum distance for that lense. I also cropped it in photoshop a bit, (but not too much, as you can see the quality is still good). I actually meant to upload another shot (one that showed the entire butterfly), but this one is ok, I guess.

The amount of detail is quite amazing. I especially like the eye, it looks almost unreal.

Hay House 2 is a manipulation and shot at this angle because of the grounds keeper working on both sides. It was an overcast day with the sun behind the house. When I adjusted the exposure for the shadow side, the sky got washed out. I took a photo of the sky about an hour later and merged the two images. Thanks Eric for viewing and commenting on this image.

Thanks for visiting the Garden of the Gods. This was more of a luck shot. I went down there to get a good photo but it showed signs of a storm all day.
The lighting was very flat. Disappointed. I was packing up my equipment when the sun broke through. The clouds wer moving out of the area very fast so I had time for this one shot.

Hello Eric. Thanks for the comments on "Very Vetching". I find the Palouse are to be one of my favorite places to find the unexpected. Old homesteads long abandoned, beautiful spring flowers, great sunrises/sunsets and especially the gentle rolling hills. Oh yes, a favorite place indeed.

n a dream I walked with God through the deep places of creation...until, around me, was an infinity into which we all flowed together and lived anew, like the rings made by raindrops upon wide expanses of calm dark waters.

Tanks for your most kind words about my Antelope Canyon image. I did not use a flashlight or any other light source to lluminate the formations. This is just natural but very low intensitity light. This exposure was one and a half miunte exposure, I sometimes feel that I am a bit long with my descriptions. I hope that this is noet a turn off.

Thanks Eric, no big secret. I was shooting with a 100-400 zoom with a Canon 10 D, which makes it a 160-640 zoom. This shot was taken with the lens at 200mm so effective focal length 320mm, f6.7, 1/1000th. I was on the Southern Peninsula Rescue Boat, which is a bit smaller that the yacht I was shooting (probably 22-25 ft). It was "quite " rough and I was bracing myself against the wheelhouse most of the time, but I've got used to moving with the boat and I wear a big towel aroung my neck to wipe off any spray.

The only time I have ever fallen off (with all my gear!!) was on a big boat, at anchor in a flat calm. Doesn't make much sense. All the gear now replaced - same lenses and a 20D.

Eric,
Thank you so very much for the wonderful comments about my Approaching Storm, Conejos Canyon. I am so happy that someone looked at it with an artistic eye. Most folks looked at this image and tried to analyize it. In my mind it really does not matter how or why I created the secene, just enjoy the beatuy that has been recorded.

Hi Eric;
Please forgive my late reply to your comment about my, Grand Canyon in Fog and Snow. Annie and I just returned from a 15 day ( which was supposed to last only ten days) photo trip. It was so beautiful that we just couldn't leave. How about taking a vacation and joining both of us where the temperature every morning was, 32 F and warmed to 68 F by mid afternoon. It is a hard life but someone has to do it. <smile>
The jagged border was my fault. I had a problem wih tit and finally tried to do it frehanded big mistake bu I had to givre it a try.

I'm glad to see that we're using these vertical images moer often instead of banning them from the world of wallpaper. Such was my intent with my "March Of The Titans" image of the harbor cranes. The Caedes experiment with borders is teaching me quite a lot, and I am learning as fast as I can. Thanks Eric.

Hi Eric. Thanks for taking the time to visit my "Not In Kansas Anymore" image and give your opinions. They're all welcome whether they praise or criticize. It's a weird feeling pawing through the debris of someone's life, and it takes me away from shooting nature and historical works, but Katrina's damage is here, so I have to get it.

First of all, thanks for the great comment on "Niagara Falls Glowing Red." I actually used a rather low expurse for this image. The red comes from a huge light stand (about 75' wide) with huge colored spot lights focued on different parts of the falls. They change between white, red, green, blue, yellow, etc. I just so happened to capture this part of the falls when multiple red ligths were focued on this small part of the falls. Thanks again for the comment!
