I like the depth to the shot, and the clarity. Wonderful color tone also. Wondering what the net of wires or lines are over the street? Nice capture.

Yes, I was wondering about the netting, too. They look like lights. Are they a holiday or artistic display of lights?

Well now this is unique. I'm guessing that net above is mini lights for the night time pleasure of strollers? If this was submitted after the Backlighting contest started, it would be an excellent entry for it. Practically everything here is backlit, handsomely so.

William, a wonderful early sunset shot. The just peeking trough the clouds peeking sun has created a somewhat dramatic atmosphere.
I've enlarged this image for more than 400%, and therefore I conclude that the net contains festive small (led) lights.
Must be a wonderful sight at night. Did you an attempt to capture this situation? Would be rather difficult, but I would give it a try, but it's up to you of course!

You captured more than a picture. Here there is a nostalgic atmosphere.

Marvelous composition and depth - one question what are those wires above the street - are they lighting or to prevent birds from coming down

The depth and the mood set by the contrasts in light and dark is astonishing. You were at the right place and time for this sunset, excellent capture.

Great lines and perspective...very nice subtlety of lighting on the buildings...best of luck in the contest.

I was happy to see this one in the top five but felt it deserved a considerably higher level of award, and when I voted in the contest I put it in second, right behind Tick's geese. Never be discouraged by the contest voting results... after 11 years here, I have yet to understand how some folks arrive at the conclusions they do.

Happy Trails
