Surrounded by decorated Christmas trees in the South Dakota State Capitol building, this large wooden nativity is set up annually by the Pierre Knights of Columbus. Purported to be nearly 125 years old, it appears to the holiday visitor as a bright star among stars, in part because it is so different from the other decorations and in that it is the original reason we celebrate this holiday. Peace on Earth, good will to all men and women. 12.29-4
