My suggestion is 'industrial'. I like the idea of making an engaging image out of something mundane or even ugly.

It is known that there is an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the product of a deranged imagination.

Industrial provides us with plenty of interesting opportunities. Get's my vote.

Well I like all 3 of those mentioned above...just wondering how industrial would work for the fractalists...maybe not impossible given some of the images coming out of Mandelbulb lately...and, I always did love a good mystery...as for the meaning of life, wow, now there's a challenging and thought-provoking one...looking forward to the next comp whatever it turns out to be...should be pretty interesting.

Can I make a suggestion?
If there's already a good topic suggested, don't add another one. Too many good choices allows bad choices to win. If you have something you really want to do just suggest it earlier next time. Too often people seem to ignore what's already been suggested because they have some idea they're determined to get out there.

mysterious is vague but perhaps this is a good thing, i voted for shadows but shadows can be mysterious.. bad or good to vote for narrow scoped or a wide ranging topic here ? also, shadows could be ghostly, and ghostly could be mysterious ... there is an umbrella "mysterious" topic here akin to ghostly (as the scope is just a degree less general). Toss up on this one, there are three topics that seem to coincide thus go against eachother

I'm backing "industrial", sure it can be taken literally by photographers but needs a bit more metaphoric angst for fractalists but there are plenty of scripts and approaches that can get fractals dancing the industrial two step. Nothing wrong in my book with meaning of life or mysterious but industrial grabbed my goat this time round.

I'm in line with Mikel. 'Mysterious' and 'meaning of life' are good subjects, but 'industrial' is the one I voted for.

Having managed to use fractals on the 'bridges' contest I would have no problem in attempting Industrial or mysterious. At least two of my recent postings could be suitable for either topic. For photography, I would say that industrial is harder to get a good desktop from. You can certainly get good photographs from industrial, but would they have that quality that makes a good desktop, that is intereting and pleasing to the eye? Mysterious, also encompases surreal, and some surreal photography would be good to see.

Does anyone know the "meaning of life" well enough to represent it?

ok if no one is voting for shadows im going with mysterious because i can do just shadows in that one or basically anything else cool, dark, light or handsome

While contemplating the “Meaning of Life”, “Nothing But Shadows” clouded my “Urban Living”. “Mysterious” and “Ghostly” “Industrial” “Storms” did little to bring “Rainbows” to my "Still Life"existence ergo I have no options. Perhaps the contest should incorporate all these elements.....

Hi Cindy,
the question: what is the "meaning of life" for you?

Yes, Oliver, but in truth, there is really only one.

So, you know there is only one, but you don't know it well enough to represent it. This is so "mysterious" for me. :)

Try to keep in mind, when suggesting a topic:

i) Open to all genres of art. Not just photography.

ii) Add a short description (one or two lines is sufficient) , so 'we' know what the artistic aim/intention of the subject matter is.

iii) Try not to repeat previous topics.
